Interesting post. I suppose you are right that some part of the death penalty is rooted in the need for revenge.

I'm not saying everyone deserves a death penalty. There are certain crimes in our society that legit change your reputation. We have all decided that some of these people are not in the "tribe". I don't mean stuff like, dealing weed, scamming people with a fake business, getting into a fight, stealing. I mean real sick shit like unprovoked murder, serial killing, cannibalism, anything to do with children, kidnapping, etc.

There are certain things that society has deemed unacceptable, and someone who is willing to break that threshold (or even doing it continuously), yes personally I feel safer with them not around and others that agree they shouldn't be around. Someone who robs a convenient store once has the chance of turning it around. If you rape and kill a child though, you are already so far gone that I would never trust you back in society.

If they are jailed forever I guess that's fine too. They don't need a death penalty but yeah I would want some revenge on them. Why what are your thoughts?
