Topic	Is Lovecraft Country any good?

Like every so often it'll go down an interesting and mysterious road and then it just comes back to "now let's kill these evil white people". And don't get me wrong, those particular white people are doing some proper Lovecraftian evil, but they also get it HARD ~~and up the butt in one case~~. While the history parts are nice, the violent parts are indulgent and gratuitous. I just feel tonally the greater story doesn't quite know how deep into fantasy it wants to be.
