Pretty much since the beginning. People coming in to Australia have to undergo 2 weeks of mandatory self isolation. To do this, military personnel greet you at the airport, escort you on to a waiting bus, which goes straight to a hotel. In addition to police, there are military personnel stationed there as well. Previous areas that went in to lockdown that had a military presence were Melbourne (August 2020).
