both sides decided to take death penalty off the table prior to going to court. So Im not sure what you want to accomplish with this topic. Its been years. Yeah, Im sure a lot of people were emotional when it happened
My point is CE, like the jury, was wrongly treating him like he was fully in control and aware. Legally he did not meet the definitions for culpability and could not be sent to prison over it. Morally, and logically, he should've been moved to a state institution as he was not safe to either himself or others.

Also, you're making a big assumption, and massive oversimplification, when you say someone suffering from mental illness not taking their medication is voluntary.
