Seriously I know a guy like this.

In my circle of gaming friends, there's this one guy who was a coworker of the husband one of my friends from high school (three degrees of separation essentially). I would sometimes get to talking about the games he's up to and he's not playing them so much as he's finding ways to optimize them, get the best hardware, look for the games that utilize it the most.

I'm over here playing Ace Attorney and Yakuza games and dopey little indie stuff and having a great time, and he never seems to be happy with what he plays.

Antisocial as shit too. He's not really part of our friend circle anymore since he lost his job, lost his house, and is now living across the country with his parents.

And now that I type it all out, I realize he's probably got much greater problems than "no longer actually enjoys games", but uh... yeah?
