| Tom Clark 07/29/21 12:36:48 PM #28: | Jodie leaving has been an open secret for a long time. Thank fuck Chibnall is going, too, though. My only worry is that, with how hard it apparently was to find a replacement showrunner when Moffat left, they may struggle even more now given that the show's stock has definitely plummeted over recent years - especially since the new team's first job will likely be the 60th anniversary celebration, which would be a baptism of fire. With falling ratings, far more negative fan reception and the sporadic scheduling keeping it from the public eye all meaning that the show isn't the cornerstone of BBC1 that it used to be, I'm a bit paranoid that they may use this as an excuse to quietly retire the series if a new production team proves too tricky to put together. But that's probably (hopefully?) just the part of me that remembers the 89 cancellation talking. --- ... Copied to Clipboard! |
