Neither option is correct. You have poorly assessed the situation. Its a two-fold issue.

1) The party has been spreading disinformation as part of the Trump presidency for years. Once you start this cycle, it becomes hard to stop and you have to go along with it or risk alienating the people youve been leading along.

2) There was an assumption that the risk of the virus had waned. But due to the emergence of more contagious strain, there has been a worldwide resurgence. So now, most of the deaths and hospitalizations are from those who are unvaccinated, which is mostly Republican led states. Heavy death tolls and high hospitalizations do not bode well for vulnerable Representatives and could be used nationally as well.
