Calculus 2 is just one of many examples of courses specifically required for many STEM and business majors in order to weed out students. I tutored Calculus for over a year and ran into many people who could not pass that course no matter how many times they took it. These were people with outstanding grades in their actual major courses - including ones that involved calculus in their actual major.
