The NES classic was a good example. People were obssessed with it in the first run, but no one could buy it and by the time the second wave came out the hype for it was dead and no one could give a crap about it. I ended up getting the classic for $40 in box with an extra controller. I feel like if they just produced the right amount to begin with, they would've made more money. 3D All-stars is a good example of this.
