Fairly sure this is toxic masculinity, too. It definitely isn't natural. The whole idea that "one man can impregnate many women, therefore many men can die" doesn't appear to be supported in our evolutionary history. I've heard people argue that men sacrificing themselves increases the overall fitness of the species or tribe, but humans lack all of the traits common to many self sacrificing animals (short infancy, high birthrate, sterility, bright warning colours, poisonous organs, etc.)
