Topic	I beat the original Metroid today (spoilers)

I wouldn't fault Metroid 2 for it because it worked well within the confines of the system. As much as I love the original SaGa (Final Fantasy Legend) games, Hey, was this the one where you were an escaped gladiator at the beginning? I thought it was Final Fantasy (something) but was an action RPG. I remember if you equipped an axe you could cut down trees that were in your way and stuff like that.
