IIRC the main criticism of Hashino is that most of peoples complaints with how LGBT characters are handled in the Persona team's games (so also Catherine, which he was actually a writer in too) are attributed to him. It's been a recurring issue since Persona 3. Don't know how much of it is him and how much is the culture at Atlus but he's the director and has said some sketch things in past interviews so it gets projected on to him. I think it's a fair point, but personally as long as they cut this shit out it should be fine. However so far the problems have been recently fixed in localization and not in the original text so I won't hold my breath and would just judge it critically as it comes. For the record, SEGA has been pretty good on LGBT issues (they give employee benefits and the Yakuza series at least tries even if it's by no means perfect) so there's a chance they just tell the Persona team (Re Fantasy team?) to get with the program. anyways aside from the discourse I mostly would like to see some god damn persona 2 ports --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! ...
