Define doesnt work because pure capitalism (as in absolutely 0 forms of government regulation and involvement) has never been attempted. There is not a single country where everything is completely privatized.

We were certainly much closer in the past. We called it the gilded age and we've gotten to where we are now in large part because of near universal agreement that it sucked. We were certainly the closest we'll ever get at the very beginning of capitalism as well and that was full of exploitation.

People aren't going to try it because they rationally believe it's not good.

Communism has to wear what's actually been done under its label and so does capitalism, even though a stateless, classless, money less society has also never been tried.
