Yep. I do think there are legit components like how crises impact generational experiences and perceptions. I would just heavily question the cyclical or prediction power of the model. I would also question whether or not it travels -- meaning is it a universal theory of history or one that only holds serve in the US context.

Universal-philosphies of history are often good at developing their narratives retroactively, tying events to explanations retroactively. Handpicking data to fit the model basically. Sometimes really good at criticism of the present too. Yet their predictive power always seems dubious, at least once you apply concrete time tables.

That is my hot take at least.
