I work with tourists (My buisness is not understafffed and I'm paid well) and I tell them the simple fact is people were smartened up and are refusing to work for pennies when they could make dimes. In my area the rate of pay has increased 40% across the board. This is exactly why the 9-5 5 day a week work week exist. People will just not show up to make a stand. I imagine min-wage is going to be raised within a year, they can't get away with it anymore and people know it. Appreciate the fast food workers, they give you convenience in life.

Mine did. Problem still stands, tons of $500 sign on bonuses, people are not going to be working under sub 10 an hour conditions anymore, they've smartened up. The rate of pay has to increase otherwise it's going to be bad.

But once benefits run out and people are forced to find a job, don't you think employers will realize that and pay them lower than or at best as much as before the pandemic?
Seems to me like it'll be a game of who will break first: major retailers who can afford to take the hit from lost profits/productivity, or John Smith whos about to lose his house and is tired of watching his family eat gov cheese so he'll take what he can get?
