Topic	Why do so many horror movies have bad endings?

A horror movie should be a horror right up until the very end. Not a horror movie but in The War Of The Worlds ~~The kid runs off to fight the aliens in a situation where he should not survive. Only he shows up again at the end of the movie alive and well with no explanation how he survived.~~ To me, that ruined the despair felt during the movie. --- "Well, it's not a bad game.
