Marxist analysis focuses on the relation between the working class (proletariat) and the owning class (bourgeoisie), and how actions are motivated by this relationship. For example, a Marxist might say that the tire industry (bourgeoisie) needed rubber and North Vietnam had rubber trees, so the US government (heavily influenced by the bourgeoisie) invaded North Vietnam (a communist country, so nominally run by the proletariat) to acquire said rubber trees.
