All aquaman characters became CGI when they went underwater and you could barely tell. Making a bunch of character models and rerunning the render process for a bunch of variations isn't that big of a leap. They even already did it with the sonic movie where in the space of a few months completely changed Sonic. The tech to do this exists now. And a movie with so much of it underwater will use CGI exactly like aquaman, so why not make it with several CGI models?
