Some viruses (mostly naked ones, as opposed to enveloped ones) are reasonably stable in dry air, such that they don't rely on droplets to be transmitted. They're still emitted primarily in droplet form, since there's so much water vapour in our breath (and especially when sneezing/coughing), but airborne viruses can linger for a while after the droplets dry up, rather than relying entirely on them.k yeah that makes sense, thanks --- ...
