I mean that's your main problem. Putting girls on a pedestal is creating a fear block for yourself. Granted when I really find someone attractive I get a attack of the nerves too and certainly haven't had the guts to ask someone out or anything like that but that doesn't stop me from at least talking to people. The more you talk to people the more confident you'll be. I do wonder though what you find scary about talking to girls and presumably not guys.
Some people have a hard time talking in general. ---
