Unfortunately, yesterday one of my kittens passed away, and it is hitting me hard. The momma cat lived next door, but she was abandoned. We started feeding her, and she had one litter. Last year she was getting pretty big, and we took her in, to have the kittens, on a Sunday. Monday momma was taken to the vet however she was empty. Either she had them or they died and were aborted.

The next evening I went out to feed momma's boy that is still outside. When I was going out I noticed momma was antsy and wanted out. The first time she acted like this since coming in. I put the food out for her boy, and when I turned to go back, I thought I heard crying. I gave it a few seconds to make sure before hearing more crying. I dashed to neighbor's abandoned house and there is basement door on the side of the house. The crying was much louder now, and I saw lying on the floor a single black kitten that was crying. I picked her up and looked around for more kittens. Not only did I hear no more crying but did not see any.

I hurried the little one back to my house and momma before returning to the basement. Good thing since the other ones had started crying now, and momma had left them in the ceiling. The girl must have fallen from the ceiling, but she was perfectly fine. I carefully cut into the ceiling until I could reach up and pulled out four little kittens out. There were three girls and two boys in total.

Monday night one of the boys, his name is Eddy, started acting abnormal. Eddy was a wild boy and rarely would stay still unless he was about to go to sleep, and he was a loud and very vocal kitten. On Tuesday, Eddy was the same very still and silent in a complete 180 of how he usually acted. Eventually he jumped up on to the corner and got in a corner and just slept, and he never came down from the spot. When Eddy was fed, he barely ate any of it, and he used the little there was very little urine, when he went.

Wednesday came and he was still the same. Eddy tried to jump onto the counter but did not make it and fell. He was taken to the vet, and after a blood test, it revealed he has leukemia unfortunately, at most usually pass within a year of diagnosis. The choice was either having him sent to a vet in another state for blood work or have him put down. At roughly nine months old, the sweet little Eddy passed away.

This was hard pill to swallow as I have had kittens before but this was the youngest ones I have ever had since their eyes were not even open yet when I got them. We bought him home and put the siblings in kennels and let momma out. Eddy has a twin name Stella, and they both look like their momma. Stella pawed at Eddy's ear like "wake up". They watched as we wrapped the body up before taking him out and burying him.

When he was baby, I would him in my arms on his back, and I would rub his belly with my index finger. Eddy's eyes would slowly close until he fast asleep.

All of the kittens love their hammock, and Eddy is fast sleep above.
