Sometimes I mistakenly use African American as a blanket term for black people just because Im so used to using it. I live in Korea now and I still catch myself using it to refer to people who are clearly from Africa and who have probably never been to the US. Its just such an intrinsic part of my vernacular, its hard to override without specifically thinking about it.
