Mostly because a lot of people stuck at home during the pandemic with nothing better to do realized there was money to be made selling Pokemon cards (specifically the ones that came with happy meals at one point in the past year, though obviously it's expanded to be more general), which exploded into a crazy scalping scene.

What about the ones that come in boxes of cereal? I was at my mom's house the other day and she had a box of Cocoa Puffs that had a three card booster pack in it (I didn't even know they still did cereal box prizes!). I took the cards and assumed they weren't worth much, but if the Pokemon card market is booming rn, I wanna make some $$$.
