I'm not sure if Goro could've been the monster he should've been. I mean the '95 movie buried him DEEP.

I don't think anything would restore Goro to the level of respect he commanded prior to that movie except a live action movie (theatrically released) in which Goro defeated and killed Johnny Cage without Cage getting any offense. He'd probably still have to disrespect him on top of it by throwing Cage's broken shades on his dead body or tearing up an autographed photo of us.

Once that has been balanced out, I think people could view him as a monster again. Had they positioned him as the nine time champion in this film, I think people's thoughts would be drifting to the groin punch and how easily he was beaten in the last movie.

When The Dark Knight came out, nobody was thinking about the Joker losing a surfing challenge or getting punched out by Shaggy in a Scooby Doo crossover. With Mortal Kombat, I think everyone remembers the groin punch.
