So I did a quick google search and it seems that Japan does in fact have "breach of trust" laws that cover coercing people to offer gifts under false pretenses. It seems like they primarily exist to stop businessmen from pretending they're interested in signing a deal with another businessman, getting gifts and free meals from them during negotiations, then pulling out because they never had any intention to sign a deal and were just using them for said gifts and free meals.

Unfortunately for this guy it's not worded specifically to regard business dealings, so since he coerced these women to give him gifts under the pretense of being in a serious relationship he had no intention to commit to, it could be construed as violating this law.
