My opinion of the seasons so far (spoiler free)...
Murder House: Pretty good. Had some nice twists. Went on a few tangents. Overall, good season. Asylum: Great theme, but tried to do too much and kinda tripped over its own gimmicks. Could have been better than Murder House if not for various clusterfucks Coven: Had some good plot points and good characters, but suffered A LOT from horrible writing and cringey campy cliche dialog, not to mention one terrible overarching plot point which I won't describe as I'm spoiler-freeing. Overall, a mess that worked occasionally but flopped most of the time imo. Freak Show: One of the best imo. I loved the theme. I enjoyed the acting. My only complaint was out-of-period scenes. It makes no sense for characters set in the 50s to perform musical numbers with songs from the 90s >_>. If not for that, it could potentially be the best season. Hotel: Lady Gaga was amazing in her role. I was very impressed. Never was a fan of hers until then but she really fucking impressed me. Overall story was average. Roanoke: Interesting tone and good halfway-point shift but really it wasn't anything special. Felt gimmicky. Cult: I loved the social/political commentary of the time. Lots of twists. Most were below average to above average in potency. I liked it more than most people did probably. Apocalypse: I sort of liked the ties to other seasons but I sort of didn't. The throwbacks to Coven... well... I didn't like Coven. The scenery was good. The powerful new characters made the throwbacks tolerable. I was kinda rooting for the villain in the end. 1984: Started off really good but then fell into a kind of generic plot for the series even if "new" in concept. Gave me high expectations but then floundered a bit, but at least average overall.
I loved Cult actually. It felt a lot more focused than other seasons and I liked the political satire.
