Every year is different regardless of who is president. Some years are worse than others.

It's no more fair to blame Trump for the Vegas shooting or the Parkland shooting than it is to blame Obama for the Pulse shooting or Biden for the recent spate of shootings.

The problem isn't who is president. The problem isn't a lack of morals or god. The problem is too many guns in the hands of people who shouldn't have them, and a lack of proper healthcare coupled with this bullshit outdated "boys don't cry/men can't show vulnerability" attitude in the States which leads to men not seeking help when they need it.

We have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. But that doesn't mean there can't be checks and balances to that right. Enacting a national registry and requiring insurance per firearm is a good start. Background checks. Red flag laws. Proper education when issuing licenses to own and carry firearms, including extensive exposure to real impacts of gun violence and trauma. Show these people the devestation caused by firearms and not just the sexy John Wayne machismo aspect of owning guns. Teach that empathy before they can even purchase a gun. Limits on how and where guns can be sold/exchanged. Limits on how much ammunition can be kept. Limits on how many and what kind of firearms can be obtained.

To be clear, I'm not advocating for any of those solutions listed above. I don't know what it's going to take to get to the root of the issue but I do know it's going to take a combination of things, and those changes could take years to take shape and see some real results come of them.

I'm an Army veteran. I've fired all sorts of cool shit. Believe in the 2nd amendment. But there's gotta be some common sense here. I don't know the solution. I'm admittedly not that smart. I could never run for office, I'd be laughed off the ballot.

But it's not criminals with illegal guns perpetrating many of these mass shootings. A lot of them are perpetrated by legal gun owners, or with firearms which were obtained legally at some point prior to the shooting.

I don't want to see guns banned wholesale. But there needs to be limits. There needs to be checks and balances. There needs to be a change in how we view men and masculinity and mental health in this country.

Will we ever be able to prevent *all* mass shootings? Probably not. But we can't keep punting on the issue because "criminals don't follow the law" or "we can't solve the issue 100%" - that's bullshit.
Except the 2nd amendment is no longer needed. Literally, who the fuck is coming at you that you are so worried that you need a gun? You fuckers are so paranoid that someone is going to kill you that you are killing everyone else first.
