Part of what makes these toys/games more valuable in the future is the reduced amount of supply. Which you're causing by getting these toys/games in the first place.

And what keeps collectible toy manufacturers in business is guys like me who will absolutely buy a 14th Wolverine figure because the latest has a new hat. It's not the odd purchase some parent makes to shut their kid up or spoil at Christmas. I promise your avg adult collector spends way more per year on toys than your avg parent.
So you may think it's "scummy", but the collector market gives incentive to toy manufacturers to make good figures and constantly release new ones. Otherwise they can sell any crap to kids, they're dumb lol
