Most people that don't understand why people are rioting never will and honestly do not care about police brutality.

Right or wrong, you cannot say the LA riots in the 90s did not (albeit briefly) illicit change within the dept. You cannot say that the Minneapolis riots did not illicit the city to reform and revamp policing within the area.

Right or wrong, rioting has historically been just about the only thing that makes any kind of real change/progress towards police reform and even civil rights.
It's also how the entirety of the labor rights movement happened in the gilded age. Power only responds to power. Literally the entire history of human civilization bears this out.

People in power call for protests to be peaceful, because peaceful protest can be ignored.
