The $750,000 Boston Contracting Opportunity Fund will award grants of up to $15,000 to businesses looking to build up capacity in order to secure city contracts. Those eligible include women-, minority- and veteran-owned businesses. The fund will open on April 15.

The city has created a five-person team within the city Office of Economic Development to provide technical assistance to businesses seeking to win city contracts, among other responsibilities. Those positions are funded by a $2 million investment previously announced by Walsh. In addition, the city has hired its first-ever director of strategic procurement to support diversity in contracting across city departments.

So funding to help firms with the contract process and teams to help coordinate the management of applying for contractor jobs.
