Read the first paragraph in that post where I said your name and was saying what people would refer to you vs your real name.

If your name is William and you go by Bill, your name would generally be stated as Bill if asked, but if someone asked your real name in a conversation, people in the real world would state it is William. That is how things are. People say their legal name to be their real name. I was saying the only people that have a legit argument about saying, My name is Bill (distinction here vs real name) would be because they always have gone by that, even though its a shortened/alternative name, not their real name. Even then theyre technically wrong but people give it a pass. Not even close to the same as using your middle name or a nickname, etc. and then trying to correct a misspelling and saying my real name is like Melanie.

I would hope this didnt require explaining but middle name isnt the same as shortening something like Thomas to Tom or such like that. People rarely ask to clarify that shit...but then look at Patrick Mahomes, he doesnt go by Pat and actually makes it a thing to clarify correctly his name is Patrick. Even if he did go by Pat, his real name would still be Patrick. Yall are trying to act like if he went by Pat his real name would be Pat. Again, thats now how it is, even if you think Im being dumb here. Ask any intelligent person in real life and not trolling shit on these boards. Its amazing I even get people arguing with me.
