A few years ago California passed new regulations that required large companies to provide all of their full time employees with health benefits and leave credits. Mcdonald's responded by changing a majority of their employees to part time. Part time employees don't get benefits. They weren't the other ones. I can't remember off the top of my head all the news stories that were coming out but there were a few. Obamacare was another big one that had companies drop peoples hours to part time.
