Their presence and the type of people they attract to work there were attracting a more liberal crowd and turning those areas blue, the same thing happens with large spikes to urban population. Stopping these things in protest only hurts their own goals. If you look at texas or other areas, the thing they hate most is "big money liberals" coming in and "taking over their state".
