The last 4+ years of US politics was nothing but Donald Trump and his cronies, and Republicans at large, being held to a completely different standard (much lower) than anybody that came before from either side. Also there's very big overlap between these ethno-nationalists as you call them and MAGA. Which is why Trump and co very smartly pandered to their base and energised them with constant racist dog whistling. The only thing I see that this guy doesn't match exactly with them is his outright dismissal of babies as expendable. The MAGA crowd tend to be staunchly pro life/anti abortion. But not all.
