Jordan Peterson is a mixed bag. Some of his work offers some legitimate value, but you've got to be able to filter a lot of craziness out to get to it. Also, he is put on a pedestal and often given a platform to espouse his views on things that are wildly outside his realm of expertise. That's the main reason he's become dangerous. Like, people who follow the advice and values his book provides may legitimately see an improvement in some aspects of their lives, then they'll attach part of their ego and identity to his, and then suddenly everything he says is gospel. It's a cult of personality for fragile men.

Personally, I think all the benefits you can find in his work can be found elsewhere, and without all the wackiness attached. Basically all of his good ideas are just derived from Jung. For some reason JP gets attached to stoicism a lot despite being an anti-stoic as far as I'm concerned, so I like to recommend actual stoic philosophy to people who have found value in his work. It helps them to start untwisting the good from the bad.
