I think that people still went out if going out is what makes them happy. In a weird way I think some of the people that locked themselves in their living rooms for the past year are almost 'happy' as a result. It became their identity.

Yeah, the pandemic gave all of these people a socially acceptable reason to be pathologically introverted. And the worst of them claim that they are "sacrificing" when in reality, doing nothing but staying inside and consuming media is all they've ever dreamed of.
