"Why do movie characters always fire guns in full auto" fits.

Assuming that the general public's view of guns doesn't come from movies and video games is quite bold. If you walk up to someone on the street and ask "how do you fire an Assault Rifle", I guarantee you a majority of them think you can just point and drain the whole magazine.
And if you really think the majority of people know that a silencer does dick-all indoors, then why don't we see everyone complaining about it? If people really know it's wrong, then people would be coming through saying "Ugh. Yet another movie where a silencer is way too strong."
The average person's idea of a gun is whatever they've seen on-screen recently. They don't know anything's wrong, and every issue should be addressed.

Depends. If it's an action movie buff, I'm pretty sure the dude should know how a real gun fires like. Heck, even CoD fanboys nowadays should know guns have something called recoil.

If you're talking about someone watching the action movie because her boyfriend dragged her to watch, sure likely she wont know any better
