The Tears for Fears rendition still feels like a pop song, regardless of the lyrical content, whereas the Gary Jules version is pretty unabashedly slower and sadder. That said I can easily see someone preferring the original, because it brings something different to the table. One of the things I've learned from this ranking (I may have said this before!) is I seem to have a low threshold for metal in general. A lot of the metal nominations place low on Unconvention, for example, because to me they tick off a lot of the same boxes. Kingslayer was more unique in the presence of BABYMETAL, which I was grateful for. MetalmindStats posted... I was hoping to have more than one song in the top 100! Ah well.
