Bravely Default - Serpent Eating the Horizon Nominator: Thomas 9 (9/0) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRFgviKp5hA Used to be my absolute favorite song (for like, two weeks, although after getting really into Calamity I appreciated how close this was to Servants of the Scourge alphabetically). Now it's just almost my favorite (as of years ago oops). Still like it quite a bit, even if a lot of what it does I've found better examples of. The first half is good, not too special, repetitive as Revo does. The second begins with a weird breakdown which isn't that weird to me anymore but still grabs my attention, and the transition through all of the special attack songs is even better now that I actually know them. Lefty insists that this song is incoherent and... it really isn't. Those segments all fit together, make a cohesive whole, and are connected through the structure of the song. It's a very strange criticism he adamantly insists upon and I just don't get it 73./33. Chrono Cross - Scars of Time Nominator: VGMC Honorees 9 (9/0) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=180sjeAMKPE For so long I vaguely knew what this song sounded like but could never conjure it up in detail if encouraged. Now that I bothered to listen through it, I gotta say that I'm underwhelmed. I mean, that isn't to say that it isn't good, just not really winner material. Doesn't help that Corridors of Time <COMMENT REDACTED> Wow I really shit on this song when I first ranked it. It's pretty good, though still not champion-worthy, lacking that special something.
