My theory has always been that Nintendo was trying to prevent us from getting tired of their franchises. So theyd skip Metroid a generation, theyd skip star Fox too, etc. at most they would give us spin off games (I dont consider the stuff like Metroid generation or the latest star Fox game or dino planet as true sequels).

but they have left Metroid and star Fox virtually untouched, they gave us Zelda burnout when SS was new (only BOTW managed to make Zelda exciting again) and Mario was kind of in a slump until odyssey.

so what is their big idea? Are they really out of ideas of what to do with punch out, Metroid, star Fox and other franchises like that?

part of me wanted to think BOTW was going to be the true Wii U killer app, but then it ended being a switch game, by then the switch was out and botw couldnt be a Wii U selling point.

it seems once again we wont get a Zelda killer app for the current Nintendo console, as botw was low enough in specs to run in the Wii U and whenever botw 2 is out it will be close to the end of the switch life span.

nintendos lack of direction when it comes to its franchises made the Wii U fail, among other things. They corrected the path a little bit with the switch, but I feel theyre regressing now
