Windows for decades has let you buy applications from anywhere you wanted and never got a cut from any of it. There's a Windows store now but they do literally nothing to block software from other sources.

Don't see why things have to suddenly be different for phones.
microsoft doesnt allow apps to be sold cut-less on the windows store. Allowing side loading on iOS devices is a separate argument. And really, epic could just move to android since they allow side loading. This is a private business discussion that Epic is trying to bring to court for no legitimate reason. Just greed
