With some help from vaguely knowing about the game, I suppose that's to reflect that the machines you fight are (at least at this point), a natural feature of the environment, and have been integrated into the ecology. It kind of hovers between "this is really cool" and "i don't care", so any help it can get from unconventional instrumentation and tension building is disproportionally to its favor. Bongos 174.
