So I have 3 job offers with 3 separate companies, the one I most want screens for marijuana use. The job location is Washington state where both recreational and medical use of marijuana is permitted. Personally I should have done more research prior to applying as I assumed they did not test, as the other two companies do not and perform the same functions.

I did some research on the subject and found out that during the 80s the federal government mandated drug testing for many federal positions as part of the war on drugs, which in turn inspired many private companies to begin testing.

What are your thoughts on testing for marijuana and the 30 day window? Do you believe it is sensible for specific positions or not at all?
