Nothing will ever rival xenosaga episode 2 in that category, though.

I found the battle system pretty easy tbh.

Ravager to build up stagger
Comander to slow it from falling.
Sentinel for 2 battles throughout the game.

Set up a few whatever they called the party roles, paradigms? and then switch as needed when you need de/buffs and to slow down the stagger gauge and build it up.
