If you work for a large company, chances are it's not negotiable since everything is structured. If you find out that your salary is negotiable, then negotiate away. Don't just say "I want more money", or start listing off your problems "I need more money because I have a kid"; explain what you can do for the company and why that is worth the money (e.g., speak up your achievements, what you can do, what you will do). --- ...
