The things you do and say are still your thoughts. You just dont have the impulse control while under the influence. It doesnt just suddenly make you racist and then not again when youre sober. It just prevents you from controlling those thoughts in public like you would sober. so again, if he addressed it that way and pledged to change who he is, thats owning it and Id respect that.
