Fucking bastards like Jerry Falwell didn't want a boy to even SEE a woman naked until their honeymoon. Puritans like himself, and the various right wing zealots that populated Maryland, Massachusetts and Missouri ruined the lives of many women. These women today are the CEOs of companies, the Vice President of the United States, and in other high places. If Jerry Falwell and his ilk had their way, they would all be in the kitchen.
