TopicWhy do women like gay men so much?

OpenlyGator posted...
Quite a few women actually DON'T like gay men for various reasons. There are women that are pro-gay and accepting of homosexual men existing, but there's still a notable amount of bigoted women who are definitely anti-gay when it comes to men (that's right, ONLY the men).

* Some women openly regard gay men as "defective" males (inferior to heterosexual males due to typical disinterest in participating in procreation and performing the provider role for the heteronormative status quo, in other words: considered worthless as males). And no, this perspective is actually NOT exclusive to far leaning conservatives. Some women, regardless of political leaning, still judge every man's worth by what he can do as a utility (similar to how a woman's worth can be superficially graded by her looks and sexuality alone).
* The above is especially apparent in most women not wanting a gay son (accepting and wanting are not the same, heterosexual sons are still deemed the ideal among most mothers). This can lead to some mothers forbidding their sons from interacting with gay folk out of fear of turning gay. Again, not exclusive to far leaning conservatives...sorry if that's a shocker.
* Gay men generally have zero interest in performing chivalry in regards to women because we literally do not benefit from it and its oppressive to ask us to do it. Many of us support gender equality, not favoritism. Chivalry in regards to women is favoritism. Our rejections of said gender roles can also cause similar dissent among hetero male peers. Manipulative women do not like this. Gay men are some of the leading advocates for tearing down gender roles, not promoting them so someone else can exploit them.
* Gay men are also competitors for many female-dominated career paths, including nursing, fashion design, retail, and food service. And while many of these men can be equally qualified, some women still consider these men as "oppressive benefactors of patriarchy" despite being a historically disadvantaged male minority group even in the western world.
* Some women who get upset the moment a man refuses a request can be just as vindictive towards a gay guy saying nope, with equal penalty. While straight men are more likely to say yes to a pretty female face, that magic trick does not work on gay men.
* Paranoid women can still see gay men as threats to heterosexual relationships and marriage. Some crazy witches literally still think we're out to steal straight men from them. Never mind that 99.9% of straight men naturally stink at homosexuality and are the worst candidates to choose for it.
* Some women only want a "gay male bestie" for 1) an accessory similar to what's glorified on TV, 2) seeking an "exotic" relationship like dating someone of a different race just to say they did it, or 3) fishing for online brownie points by seeming more accepting of gay communities (which, unfortunately, a lot of us gays are still hopeless suckers for when it comes to celebrities and politicians).
Keep in mind, I am not implying all women have these toxic behaviorisms. In my experience as a gay man a good portion of women abstain from the list above and understand why it's inherently anti-gay behavior. I have known great women at home, at work, in life. It's why I've been able to comfortably socialize with women for years. However, I have had and witnessed more than a few experiences that prove being homophobic is not a gendered phenomena and some hateful fringe women actively propagate it, enough to where I would never presume a woman is accepting of gay male culture. Any gay man who was abused and thrown out by his bigoted mother can understand why.
Great post. Surprisingly you didnt get shit for it from certain people.
