Once the cost of green energy gets below the cost of fossil fuel extraction, we are looking at a whale oil level extinction event for fossil fuels. Would still need to implement it across the world. Even if a successful fusion reactor was built today you are still talking decades if not centuries for everyone to get it. Oil is cheap to move around.
