I meant it as even having any competition to make it into the playoffs. Brady and the Pats were a great team. Im not denying that, and said as much in my post. But the Pats had a guaranteed playoff slot in most years based on how lousy their division was. That was my point.

It allowed them a yearly opportunity to rest key guys in games 15 & 16 regularly and prepare for the playoffs.
